The introduction contains descriptive material about Carpatho-Rusyn immigration, traditions and life style during the early part of the 20th century. The objective, factual information of this introduction serves as a background setting for the more personal narration in following chapters. The narration is in English, but there is some Russian source material in the Introduction.
